Film director Steven Spielberg, attending the launch, said it was "a window into what the future holds".

Although still in the early stages, Microsoft has sent prototypes to all the main game developers.

Speaking to the BBC, Mr Spielberg said he had always stated that "the main barrier stopping people getting into video games was the complexity of a games controller," and that Natal was "a whole new world".

"There is technology now that recognises not just your thumb, it recognises your entire person. The technology knows who you are," he said.

Mr Spielberg drew an analogy with the film industry, saying it was evolutionary step for games.

I'm a Bing. You're a Google? Microsoft is reportedly spending as much as $100 million in an advertising blitz on Hulu in what the company is calling a "Bing-a-thon."

The ads will be used as a way to "bake into the shows," Eric Hadley, general manager of worldwide marketing for search and MSN at Microsoft, told The New York Times, attempting to wow watchers instead of eliciting yawns and saying "'that's it?' "

Hulu will start running Bing ads on Monday night, according to a report in The New York Times. The promos are reportedly similar to a telethon---minus Jerry Lewis---and are being called "Bing-a-thon."

The Bing-a-thon on Hulu has been crafted to look like a TV program and will star Jason Sudeikis, Olivia Munn and Fred Willard, the Times said.

Microsoft is counting on the ads to be more successful than the company's PC promos that currently air on TV.

"The key will be whether we deliver a product and connect with people emotionally in the advertising," Yusuf Mehdi, senior vice president for the online services division of Microsoft told the paper. "You have to do something a little bit more surprising. It's a very tall marketing challenge and a very tall product challenge."

That emotional connection is supposed to come from the Bing ads that will be tied into TV shows streamed on Hulu.

In addition, Microsoft will air Bing ads on TV, but this time they will be integrated into shows rather than as standalone commercials.

NBC Universal, which is also a Hulu stakeholder, will feature Bing commercials on "The Late Show With Jimmy Fallon," and are also set to appear on MTV shows.

In the heyday of DOS-based word processors and 5-1/4" floppy diskettes, the Ins was used to switch between "Insert mode" and "Overwrite / Overtype mode," at least before software developers learned that most people don't like Overtype mode (and nearly nobody knows how they got there when it happens).
by default, you're in "Insert mode" when you write in MS Word (or any word processor for that matter); this means that if your text cursor is between two words:

The lightning scares me

and you type a word, it looks like this:
The lightning bug scares me

But if you've accidentally press the Ins key beforehand, then you'd get this mess instead:
The lightning bugares me

as the three characters " sc" are overwritten instead of simply pushed out of the way.
The simple solution is to press the Ins key again to go back to Insert mode,

and then fix your mistake.

But the better solution is to disable this simple (and very old) annoyance entirely, which, of course, is not obvious in Word.

Instead, you'll need this workaround:
Select Macro from the Tools menu, and then select Record New Macro.
Type DoNothing for the Macro name (no spaces, please).
Click Keyboard.
Click in the Press new shortcut key field and press the Ins key.

The word "Insert" will appear.
Click Assign and then Close.
You'll then be sent back to the main editing page, and a Stop Recording toolbar will appear floating above your page.

Immediately press the little Stop button on toolbar (the tiny square).
That's it! You've just created a macro, activated by the Ins key, that does absolutely nothing.

The next time you press the Ins key, that's exactly what you'll get: nothing!

Note: if pressing Ins still does do something, it means you weren't quick enough when you clicked the Stop button. Anything you do between steps 5 and 6 will be recorded and played back every time you press Ins. To try again, go to Tools -> Macro -> Macros, select the macro you just created, and click Delete. Then, repeat the above procedure again

In most applications, a list of the most frequently opened documents is shown at the bottom of that application's File menu. However, due to a bug in Microsoft Office XP, there may be no such list in Word 2002, Access 2002, Excel 2002, or PowerPoint 2002.
To find out if the bug affects you, open any Office XP application, select Options from the Tools menu, and choose the General tab.

If the Recently used file list is grayed out (disabled),

then the bug affects you.

Otherwise, place a check in the checkbox, and you're done!
Here's how to fix this bug:

Run the Registry Editor (REGEDIT.EXE).

Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ Software\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Policies\ Explorer.

On the right side, delete the NoRecentDocsHistory value.

seem to get uglier with ever successive version of Windows.

Here's how to replace these with your own designs:
Make duplicates of the files LOGOS.SYS and LOGOW.SYS in a temporary folder.

These files are located initially in your Windows folder.

LOGOW.SYS is the one that reads "Please wait while...," and

LOGOS.SYS is the one that reads "It is now safe to...,"
These files are just standard bitmaps, so rename the extensions of these duplicates to .BMP.
You can use any graphics editor to edit these files,

such as MSPaint, Photoshop, or Paint Shop Pro.
The files are 256-color windows bitmaps (RGB-encoded, but not RGB color), 320 x 400.
Since the aspect ratio (width / height) of these files are not standard 4:3,

like most computer screens, the bitmaps will appear vertically elongated.
To make your new design conform to this aspect ratio,

re size the bitmap to 534 x 400 while you're working on it.

Make sure to re size them back to 320 x 400 when you're done.
Save your changes, and rename the extensions of your new files back to .SYS.
Last, copy the new files back into your Windows folder. It might be smart to back up your original files.

While you're at it, you can create a startup screen as well (using the above method).
Just call the file LOGO.SYS, and place it in the root directory of your boot drive (usually C:\). There's no file to replace here; the default logo, embedded in IO.SYS, is used if no LOGO.SYS file is found.

Note: If you're using disk compression, like Doublespace, you'll need to put the file in the original boot drive (sometimes H:\).

Be the first on your block to have official Creative Element startup and shutdown screens (67k).
Download Startup and Shutdown screens with the BMW Z3 and Audi Quattro Sport (198k).

To remove the startup logo altogether, edit the file C:\MSDOS.SYS, and add the line LOGO=0 to the Options section.

Note: This will only work, for some reason, if you have a custom startup screen in your root directory. For more information, see Contents of the MSDOS.SYS File. This setting can also be changed with TweakUI.

Note: If you delete LOGOW.SYS and LOGOS.SYS altogether, Windows will exit to DOS instead of shutting down (more information).

Note: Some users have reported that the machine reboots instead of shutting down when these logos are replaced. If this happens to you, make sure the bitmaps are not corrupted, and using no more than 256 colors.

Note: If you're using DriveSpace or another disk compression utility, and want to create your own startup screen (as described above), make sure you put LOGO.SYS in the root directory of your host drive (which may not be drive C:\)

3.Double-click the NoDesktop value (if its not there, select Edit -> New -> DWORD Value, and type "NoDesktop" for its name).

4.Enter 1 for the value, and click OK. (Just delete the value entirely to undo this.)

5.Click on the desktop, and press F5 to refresh the desktop so that this change will take effect. (More information.)

Windows XP allows you to choose between the new "Windows XP style" (also known as "Luna"), and the Windows Classic style, but it doesn't provide the means to easily configure your own style. To choose a style, open Display Properties in Control Panel,

It's my favorite media player, RealPlayer v11. In the new version the wonderful people at Real Networks have implemented a new feature, and that is the ability to download web videos very easily AND play them.

You can download it from HERE, just scroll down that page and download the BASIC PLAYER. You can also buy the full featured one but that's up to you.After you download the RealPlayer 11 and install it, here is how you use it to download videos:

Step 1:Once installed, this program adds a plug-in for your browser (Internet Explorer or Firefox) and whenever you are watching a video, just hover over it with you mouse and a "Download This Video" button will appear on top of the video. Click on it.

If the button doesn't appear, don't panic. Just right click anywhere on the video and choose "Download This Video To RealPlayer".

Step 2: After you've done step 1, RealPlayer will start downloading

your chosen video and a new window will appear to

show the progress.

You have the options of both pausing the download and canceling it if you are not happy with it for some reason.

Step 3: You can obviously play the downloaded video by

clicking the 'Play' link or from the download folder.

(Note: Clicking 'Remove' or 'Clear' button will only delete the video from the download list,

not from your computer) By default,

RealPlayer downloads all your videos in a folder called "RealPlayer Downloads"

inside your "My Videos" folder which is inside "My Documents".

That's it, you have downloaded your video!

One thing you need to notice is that videos downloaded from

YouTube or from this site will all be in .flv format.

Normally you'd have to download a separate FLV Player for that, but not anymore.

RealPlayer can both download and play not only .flv videos but almost any other video format. You can download quicktime, .wmv (Windows Media Video),

.rm (Real Media), .swf (Flash), plus many more formats that I can't remember.

RealPlayer 11 is that cool!!
